School grounds and classrooms

The classroom at Prairie State School is housed in the original school building, built in 1917.  We have 6 computers in an ICT space, as well as a new interactive white board. In 2010 the school was refurbished, as part of a maths investigation, students discussed what furniture the school needed and researched options.  Students worked to ensure the furniture selected would fit in the space (mapping and measurement) and that we could afford to purchase the items and pay for the freight (budgeting and money).

The front veranda was enclosed to house a foyer and the administration office.  The back veranda was enclosed and extended to house what is now a small kitchen, a photocopy room and our prep play space.

The school grounds consist of a shaded playground and basketball space, a multi-purpose court, a large oval and a fantastic sandpit constructed by volunteers.
